Invisalign First is the latest advancement in Invisalign technology. Like Invisalign for adults and teens, it uses customized, clear trays to gently expand your child’s arch and straighten teeth. At Maddux Orthodontics, we utilize this clear aligner therapy during early orthodontic treatment, while your child has a mixture of both baby (primary) and permanent teeth. By addressing orthodontic issues with Invisalign First early on, your child is less likely to have more serious orthodontic issues in the future.

How Does Invisalign® First Work?

Invisalign First uses a set of clear trays to gently expand your child’s arch over time in order to accommodate more permanent teeth in the future. Depending on your child’s specific needs, it can offer an alternative to a palatal expander or traditional, metal braces.

Invisalign First starts with a complimentary consultation with Dr. Maddux to discuss early orthodontic treatment options. Dr. Maddux will begin with a detailed evaluation and examination of your child’s smile. If Dr. Maddux determines that this is a viable option for your child, our orthodontic team will take photos and impressions of your child’s smile to create customized, clear trays. After a few weeks, your child’s aligners will be ready for use. Your child will then be directed to wear their aligners regularly, and Dr. Maddux will monitor the progress of treatment and make adjustments, if necessary.

In addition to expanding your child’s arch, this orthodontic treatment can also help with other orthodontic issues, such as:

Invisalign First offers many of the same benefits of Invisalign Teen and Invisalign for adults. Benefits include:

Invisalign First offers the same teeth-straightening power as braces, without the hassle of brackets, wires and bands. This is a great benefit for children, as braces can sometimes irritate the inside of the cheeks and mouth.

Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign First can be removed when eating, brushing and flossing.

Because Invisalign First is removable, children do not need to alter their diet. While children with braces need to avoid sticky, crunchy and hard foods during orthodontic treatment, Invisalign First patients can continue enjoying all the foods they love. Your child can also floss and brush their teeth normally, allowing for better oral hygiene.

Invisalign First requires fewer trips to the orthodontist than traditional metal braces and overall faster treatment.
