Here Are Some Great Tips
Hey, Teens! Is it time for orthodontic treatment? Would like to avoid the traditional metal braces look? Maddux Orthodontics suggests using these talking points to help start the conversation with your parents. Talking to Your Parents About Invisalign ® may be the best option for you.
The Conversation…
So, we know I need braces. I would really like to see if I am a candidate for Invisalign.
I’M A TEENAGER. I AM A LITTLE SELF-CONSCIOUS OK A LOT SELF-CONSCIOUS.
As you know I’m already kind of self-conscious about my teeth, and metal wires from braces aren’t going to make it any easier. Invisalign® is virtually invisible, so I could be straightening my teeth without anyone even noticing.
I CAN PLAY SPORTS WITH LESS RISK.
Since the aligners are removable, I can play sports without worrying I’ll be hit in the mouth by the ball. Braces would distract my attention from the game due to worrying about getting hit in the mouth, which may cause some significant damage.
I CAN BRUSH AND FLOSS THE SAME AS ALWAYS.
Being able to remove the aligners will allow me to continue a good dental hygiene routine of brushing and flossing with no added stress or threading the floss. Not having brackets and wires means I can brush and floss properly, and I know that is important to you.
I CAN EAT HEALTHY FOOD.
With Invisalign, there aren’t any restrictions on food. I can easily remove the aligners to eat. But with braces, I can’t even eat things like popcorn, whole apples or raw carrots.
INVISALIGN MEANS FEWER VISITS TO MY ORTHODONTIST.
I know how busy you are. Invisalign requires fewer visits to the orthodontist. With braces, you would have to take me to adjustment appointments every 4-6 weeks or even emergency repairs if I broke a wire or bracket.
I AM RESPONSIBLE, AND I WILL PROVE IT.
Don’t worry. I know it’s my responsibility to wear the aligners to achieve results. I promise I will. And the aligners have blue indicators that fade with wear. If I don’t wear them, the dots won’t fade, you’ll see that and I’ll be busted.
If you’re worried about me losing my aligners, no need. Invisalign provides six replacement aligners free, just in case.
LET’S READ THE FINE PRINT…IT’S ALL GOOD!
I’ve heard that Invisalign actually costs about the same as braces. If we check our dental insurance, it’s possible that up to half the cost of Invisalign could already be covered.
